How do I arrange to send a shipment using Maina?

A Maina account is highly recommended if you ship frequently although you do not need to have one to use our services. Most methods of payments such as bank transfers, cheques, cash and credit cards (not American express) are available. A fee of 3.5% may apply to all major credit cards.

Do Maina provide packinging material for my goods?

It is advisable to pack all items so they are secure and do not get damaged whilst in transit. Maina provide packaging for various shapes and sizes of goods, always adhering to airline regulations.

What is the cheapest way to send my package overseas?

We offer a range of services including Airfreight, Roadfreight and Seafreight dependant on the final destination. If cost is your first priority we will find you the best solution.

Is there additional insurance available for my goods?

As long as your goods are packed to our specification, Maina are able to offer quality cover for high value goods which will protect against loss or damage during transportation. Insurance is provided for commercial goods and not for personal cargo.

How do I decide to send my goods via Airfreight or Seafreight?

For speed, reliability and smaller goods airfreight is the faster mode of transport but it is more expensive. Cargo ships are able to carry large amounts of volume at very low prices but normally take between 18 - 28 days to reach their final destination. Seafreight is recommended for furniture, house moves, cars and heavy machinery.

How do I calculate the cost of sending my goods?

The price of exporting is measured by weight and size. If the size of the box is larger than the weight then we will always charge whatever is greater. Please click on our “quick quotation” for further information.

What are dangerous goods and can Maina carry them?

Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. We carry all types of goods and are able to advise you on packing requirements as defined by the airlines. Most dangerous or hazardous items are unable to travel via our courier service and must go via airfreight.

Will the receiver have to pay any customs duty?

As a rule the person who receives the goods is liable for any duties and taxes for shipments which are travelling outside the EU. The charges applicable are based on what you are sending and the declared value which is shown on a commercial or pro-forma invoice. We are able to send shipments DDP (delivery duty paid) to certain destinations.

Are my goods delivered to the door or will I have to collect them at final destination?

Depending on the service that you have paid for will define the terms of delivery. All goods sent out via our Express Courier service will be delivered to the door .With Airfreight and Seafreight we are able to offer various terms for delivery.

Can I track my shipment on-line?

If you are expecting a delivery you can track your parcel by using our on-line tracking system. By entering your unique consignment number we will tell you the current status and when you can expect your parcel to be delivered.

I have a collection overseas…what do I do?

Maina Imports can arrange the collection of your goods overseas, custom clear your shipment and also deliver to you if required. All quotations will be different depending on your requirements and point of collection.

We have been working with Maina Freight for over 20 years. During this time we have developed a strong partnership with all the departments. The true test for a freight forwader is not just to provide their customers a high level of service or competitve pricing, it is to help their customers when things don't go according to plan. It is in this respect that Maina have always been number one for us and I would recommend them without reservation to any organisation in need of a professional, competitive and friendly freight forwading company.
